The release of the highly anticipated Elden Ring DLC, "Shadow of the Erdtree," has brought with it a wealth of new content for players to explore. Among the many exciting additions, the Spear of the Impaler has quickly become a fan favorite, offering a unique and powerful playstyle that can be tailored for both PVP and PVE encounters. In this comprehensive guide, we'll delve into the intricacies of building and mastering the Spear of the Impaler at level 150.
Stats
-50 Vigor
-16 Mind
-20 Endurance
-22 Strength
-45 Dexterity
-9 Intelligence
-60 Faith
-7 Arcane
Talismans
We're using Erdtree's Favour +2, Millicent's Prosthesis, Shard of Alexander, and Smithing Talisman.
-Millicent's Prosthesis increases your DEX by 50 for the spear's physical and AoW combo.
-Shard of Alexander for the spear's AoW/Skill, Smithing Talisman for the R2 throw.
-Fire Scorpion Charm is an excellent choice for the last talisman slot if we require extra fire damage from the spear's AoW, Messmer's Flame/Fire Knight incants, or even other Fire Knight weapons; unfortunately, it comes at the expense of defence and the 1 HP clutch.
-Bull-Goat's Talisman is another good alternative that increases your poise from 41 to 51. This is useful in PvE but not in PvP because you can still be easily staggered out of the spear's AoW combination.
Equipment
Spear of the Impaler: and it's essential to optimize its performance. Infuse the weapon with a Sacred Ash of War to scale its damage with both Dexterity and Faith. Recommended Ashes of War include Impaling Thrust, Piercing Fang, and Sacred Blade.
Incantations
We'll utilise Flame Serpent for ranged attacks. When you can't finish the Spear's AoW combo, Messmer's Orb and the dive bomb come in useful. "Flame, Cleanse Me" for diseases and "Flame, Grant Me Strength" for self-buffing can have an impact.
Wondrous Physick
-Flame-Shrouding Cracked Tear
-Dexterity-Knot Crystal Tear
Skill Rotation and Playstyle
The Spear of the Impaler build excels at a mix of aggressive and defensive maneuvers, allowing you to adapt to various combat situations. Your primary combo should consist of the Impaling Thrust Ash of War, followed by a series of quick thrusts and sweeping attacks. This combination allows you to quickly close the distance, deal significant damage, and maintain pressure on your opponents.
When facing multiple enemies or in PVE scenarios, utilize the Piercing Fang Ash of War to unleash a devastating multi-hit attack that can clear groups of foes. The Sacred Blade Ash of War, on the other hand, is invaluable for PVP encounters, as it imbues your weapon with holy damage and a potent weapon skill that can catch opponents off-guard.
Complement your melee prowess with a selection of faith-based incantations, such as Catch Flame, Flame of the Fell God, and Bestial Sling. These spells can be used to harass enemies, create openings, and provide additional damage output.
