Elden Ring Best Frosbite Weapons List Guide

10/29/2022 3:11:44 PM

Killing enemies in Elden Ring can be done in a variety of ways. Many of them boil down to "hit it very hard," but there are also more original approaches. Frostbite, a less common status effect, is an intriguing choice. When your attacks land often enough, Frostbite activates, dealing damage equal to a percentage of the target's maximum health. Their resistance to damage is reduced by half, and their stamina regeneration rate is slashed by a third for 30 seconds. Here is a list of the top ten strongest weapons that have native Frostbite buildup.

10. Ghostflame Torch

Even though the Ghostflame Torch meets the legal definition of a weapon, you shouldn't actually use it that way. Just like the rest of Elden Ring's torches, this one is better thought of as a tool than a torch. However, if you are successful in hitting your foes with it, you will add 65 Frost to their stats.

Even though the Torch isn't particularly useful in battle, it is still a neat item to have thanks to its distinctive, faint lighting effect. The Eternal City of Nokron can be found at the bottom of the crater in Mistwood. Shortly after the on-screen text welcomes you to the city, you should notice it on your right. But tread carefully; if you miss it, you can't go back. A good place to begin is at the crater's rim.

9. Frozen Needle

Because of its low damage compared to other thrusting swords, the Frozen Needle is often overlooked. Heavy blows and the special feint you can perform with thrusting swords will both cause the weapon to launch a projectile, though. For situations where using consumables or boosting Intelligence or Faith isn't feasible, this can provide melee builds with a ranged option.

The Frozen Needle is useful because it is one of the earliest Frostbite weapons. It's south of where you first meet Ijii, in the Kingsrealm Ruins. One of Elden Ring's most enraging foes, a Royal Revenant, stands guard over it. As such, it is prudent to arm oneself with an all-encompassing healing spell.

8. Dragonscale Blade

Although at first glance the Dragonscale Blade appears to be just another boring katana with a cool name, its Weapon Skill, Ice Lightning Sword, is actually quite unique. It sets off a one-of-a-kind chain reaction of assaults that culminates in bringing down a bolt of lightning.

After that, the effect lingers, granting your weapon Frost buildup and lightning damage. This is one of the hardest weapons to obtain, requiring a trip to the Lake of Rot and the elimination of a Dragonkin Soldier.

7. Dragon Halberd

Frost normally doesn't accumulate when using the Dragon Halberd. Upon first glance, this halberd appears to be a run-of-the-mill item, as its Spinning Slash Weapon Skill seems fairly standard. But the Dragon Halberd's Spinning Slash is unlike any other, despite the fact that the description doesn't say so.

The weapon is not only faster than usual, but it also gains the ability to cause lightning damage and Frost buildup, just like the Dragonscale Blade. This weapon, like the Blade, is dropped by a Dragonkin Soldier; however, this one can be found in the Sofria River, making it more convenient to obtain.

6. Icerind Hatchet

Frost accumulates on its own, making the Icerind Hatchet a peculiar axe that focuses on Dexterity. The Hoarfrost Stomp Weapon Skill, however, is what makes this weapon so appealing. While the nerf did make it less powerful, it was still pretty good.

With enough Frost buildup, it can attack multiple foes at once, and it can reliably land hits on larger foes, such as bosses. The Hatchet is also obtainable in Liurnia of the Lakes, albeit much later. Located in a ruined tower in the Temple Quarter, the chest must be opened.

5. Royal Greatsword

The Royal Greatsword, a Colossal Sword with scaling in multiple stats, is capable of incredible damage when wielded by a player of high level. The addition of the Weapon Skill makes it even more devastating, propelling you into the air before exploding on impact with a barrage of Frost and Magic damage.

Elden Ring's favorite son, Blaidd the Half-Wolf, uses the weapon for the majority of the game. It's too bad you'll have to kill him to get it, though. Not the first time you see him, though. Hold off on killing him until the end of Ranni's questline, when he will have moved to Ranni's Rise.

4. Helphen's Steeple

Helphen's Steeple, which was dropped by a Tibia Mariner south of Castle Sol, has one of the more unusual designs among the game's many bizarre and disturbing weapons. You can play as a true Strength/Intelligence hybrid with the Steeple due to its balanced damage distribution between Physical and Magic and its decent scaling in both.

However, Frost does not accumulate on the Steeple without using the Ruinous Ghostflame Weapon Skill. Some fans of FromSoftware's games may recognize the aesthetic similarities to Elfriede's Blackflame, the Weapon Art of the Onyx Blade in the Dark Souls 3: Ashes of Ariandel add-on. Ghostflame's buff in Elden Ring is enormous, increasing Magic damage by 110 and Frost accumulation by 80.

3. Zamor Curved Sword

The Zamor Curved Sword is essentially a regular curved sword with Frost buildup added, though it does have some interestingly different attack animations that involve spinning in circles, which is always a good time. But its uniqueness lies in the weapons skill, just like with many of the other weapons on this list.

As its name suggests, Zamor Ice Storm generates an icy windstorm that rapidly freezes your skin. The same name is also given to a spell, but if you use the sword, you won't need to spend 36 IQ points to cast it. The Zamor Curved Sword can be found in its customary sheath within the Elden Ring, unlike some other weapons. Located at the end of the Giant-Conquering Hero's grave in the Mountaintops of the Giants, it was dropped there by the Ancient Hero of Zamor.

2. Death's Poker

In many respects, the Death's Poker is an uncommon weapon. A Greatsword that scales primarily with Dexterity, this item looks more like a walking stick. Ghostflame Ignition, its Weapon Skill, deals only Magic damage and scales exclusively with Intelligence. This weapon's versatility means it can be used in either a melee build centered on Dexterity or a caster build centered on Sorceries and the Weapon Skill.

Ghostflame Ignition is a fantastic Weapon skill, dealing enormous damage and building Frostbite at a distance, so you may be better off going with that instead of the first. If you really want this weapon, you can get it early on in the game, but only at the cost of putting yourself in grave danger. There is a Death Rite Bird to be found in the southeast of the Swamp of Aeonia if you travel there at night. If you can kill it, you can claim the Death's Poker.

1. Dark Moon Greatsword

Happy news: the Moonlight Greatsword has returned! Although it was absent in Sekiro, FromSoftware's signature weapon makes a comeback in Elden Ring. The reward is well worth the effort required to complete Ranni's questline.

It is among the best choices for an Intelligence build due to its high Intelligence Scaling when fully upgraded, high Magic damage, and 55 Frostbite buildup. And its Weapon Skill, Moonlight Greatsword, not only boosts your attack power by 65 Magic damage and 15 Frost buildup, but also lets you launch a projectile that deals pure magic damage and can easily stagger enemies with your charged attacks. One of the strongest weapons in Elden Ring.
