Having a good balance of damage specs, supportive utilities, and survivable options makes progressing through The War Within's demanding encounters smoother. Using raw damage statistics from top guilds' logs, both overall damage done as well as damage specifically to bosses. In this the War Within raid rankings, we have compiled the current performance of each class and spec into organized tiers. While set bonuses, gear progression, and changes from heroic to mythic can certainly shift things around, this early breakdown gives us valuable insight into which specs may need tuning going forward.

S Tier
Arcane Mage
Enhancement Shaman
Arms Warrior
Outlaw Rogue
Fury Warrior
Arcane Mage was doing very high damage to bosses and overall. Considered the strongest spec. Enhancement Shaman and Arms Warrior were also doing very well on boss damage and overall damage, placing them in S tier. Outlaw Rogue and Fury Warrior were strong but perhaps not quite as high as Arcane Mage, still ranking in the top S tier.

Augmentation Evoker
Frost Death Knight
Affliction Warlock
Retribution Paladin
Assassination Rogue
Subtlety Rogue
Beast Mastery Hunter was strong at the start and easy to play, ranking it high in A tier. Augmentation Evoker may not do highest damage but is still valuable to bring, in mid A tier. Frost DK, Affliction Warlock, Ret Paladin, Assassination Rogue and Subtlety Rogue were all doing well and clustered together in the A tier rankings.
B Tier
Elemental Shaman
Windwalker Monk
Survival Hunter
Marksmanship Hunter
Feral Druid
Elemental Shaman did well overall but not as strong on bosses, placing it in B tier. Windwalker Monk, Survival Hunter and Marksmanship Hunter were in the middle of packs, justifying B tier. Feral Druid was doing better than Balance but not top damage, in low B tier.
C Tier
Havoc Demon Hunter
Devastation Evoker
Frost Mage
Demonology Warlock
Destruction Warlock
Havoc DH, Devastation Evoker, Frost Mage, Demo Warlock and Destruction Warlock needed more help, ranked in C tier.
D Tier
