At the time of launch Diablo 4 will not have an overlay map
It may come as a surprise to those who are looking forward to Diablo 4 to learn that the game will not include a map overlay. They have every right to be surprised, considering that it was a feature that improved the quality of life in earlier Diablo games. Rod Fergusson, the general manager of Diablos, stated that Blizzard does not currently have any plans to implement the functionality that has been utilized for a long time. This means that players will have to rely on the mini-map or interrupt their gameplay in order to pull up the full map. Depending on the game, the latter option can really cause a break in immersion, so players should be aware of this possibility. We can only hope that Blizzard will have a change of heart and decide to implement a map overlay in the not too distant future. As a result of player comments and data gleaned from gameplay betas, the development team recently implemented a large number of changes and improvements to Diablo 4. These modifications included adjustments to classes, alterations to Dungeon Events, optimizations of Dungeons, increases in spawn rates, adjustments to boss mechanics, various quality-of-life improvements, and everything in between.
